How would you like to get more readers and editors onto your community? We’re building a new feature that we hope will do just that, and you can help shape it.
Over the last year, we’ve been working on a brand new feature - Community Builder, and we’ve identified a few wikis as the best candidates to have this first experience. And, your wiki is one of them! Why? Because it has a great structure for characters, seasons, episodes, etc! You can simply customize the page type to fit your needs. We designed the Community Builder from the start in mind to mirror that same structure.
This new layout is still early in its life, and we’re testing a bunch of ideas. We would be thrilled to have you help us learn how to make it even better! Would you be interested in joining us on this journey?
Before you give it a try, I would like to tell you some exciting key points about this tool:
Mobile capabilities: Community builder is designed to work across all devices, including desktop and mobile! It means you can create and view pages super easily. We want the fans of your community can contribute anytime and anywhere, no matter with their phones or their desktops. Simple and easy!
Structured data: All content on your community can display in a more powerful way. Visitors can easily find the information they want to read, and you can even present the information with less edits: by updating a single character page, you can have that data added to all other relevant pages automatically. How cool is that?!
Here is a great example how it looks like: Yellowstone wiki. Feel free to check it out!
I hope this has grabbed your interest. If you have any questions, ask away. If everything looks good to you, we’d love to switch you over to the new layout. Does this sound good to you? Please let me know and I will take care of the rest.
Safety will soon be really important this time of year as schools will be closing for summer break. I want to bring this up because threats might get higher at this time of year as high school users might try to vandalize the wikia or do inappropriate things on the wiki. I will hard as much as possible this summer on not only this wiki safety but the whole entire Fandom Network for the safety of the younger kids who visit this wikia.
I understand that you're going to be inactive for the next few weeks because of school, but I'll drop my message here, anyways.
About out current music genre listed for International Super Spy, you should be informed that hip jazz is not an actual music genre. The "hip" is used to describe the jazz genre, in the description. It's practically an equivalent to using the term strings groovy jazz, toe-tapping jazz, or cool jazz, and all the like.
The hip jazz mention is found on the official ISS press release, so I can see why the article author would make that mistake.
In the instance of an adjective being paired with a genre, I can name the examples of psychedelic rock and alternative rock. An instance of when a unique music genre is used is the ABBA-modeled roller disco, from Robot Rampage.
The only distinct genre mentioned for any ISS description was simply "jazz," although, I do recall a "swing jazz" genre being mentioned, but I cannot find the source.
I will now remove all mention of "Hip jazz" from the ISS-related articles. I just hope a certain someone does not take petty offense to this, like he/she did with the when the word "unfinal" was touched. If you have any input, give me a ring.
I've finally created portable infoboxes for the episode and role pages! They look great and are much easier to customize, but there's one problem: image width can't be adjusted. This means that any tall images will cause the infobox to be much longer than the page content (only role pages have this issue; all episode title cards are naturally wide and don't have to be edited). According to Community Central, the only way to change a portable infobox's image width is through CSS, and it changes the size of every infobox (not just one on a specific page).
In order to work around this problem, we'll need to turn any taller images (ones that aren't close to a square shape) into files with larger widths. The only exception will be on pages with a lot of content (which is not a very large amount). I've done this with the Henchman Tyrone and Baby Tyrone images by adding more space on the sides. It's a simple and easy fix, but a somewhat time-consuming task. I just need to know: are you okay with the infobox change?
I personally believe that Harvey, Old Paint and Pal should be considered recurring characters (the wiki's only criteria for being a recurring character is an appearance in more than one episode). They aren't already categorized as such because their names aren't stated in Polka Palace Party. I don't think this should matter at all (especially considering similar cases, like how Sherman is never identified in Attack of the 50 Foot Worman). Let me know what you think.
I understand what you are saying, so I won't object to the horses' reclassification as recurring characters. However, if anyone else disagrees with this choice, then we'll have to start a community discussion. I wouldn't want for this to end up like the Boinga/other aliens confusion from a few years back!
Let me know what you think of Tyrone/Images/Season 1. I was thinking we could have five gallery pages for each character (one for each season, and a "promotional images" page). It'll definitely help restore order to the wiki. If there's anything you think should be changed, just say so!
Hi Pablor. I approved your request, and I'm here to help.
Let me know what you want to do for a new background image, and please link me to any image(s) that you want to be used.
For the main page, let me know if you have any ideas about anything you think should be added or removed. For what it's worth, I think the page looks good as is, assuming you periodically update the content of the Featured sections. The only obvious change I would suggest is adding some padding to the sections to insert some space between them, so that the blue borders aren't all touching each other like it appears now.
If you want to keep the Featured Video section, I would suggest increasing the size of the video to reduce the amount of empty space in that box. You can go up to 680px and still have it fit nicely.
Another idea, if you guys are active in chat, is to add the chat module to the main page. You can do that by simply inserting <chat /> where you want it to appear. The module is only 300 pixels wide, so if you decide to use it, I would highly recommend putting it somewhere on the right column.
Thank you so much for this help, and so sorry for the late response! Admin BackyardigansKaibigan has just put up a winter-themed background, but for a year-round background we would like something similar with the characters on two sides of the page. For a backdrop, incorporating this file would work well: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9_Eq6r4vt3TNXZwSjhlS19NLXM
As for the Backyardigans themselves, here are some links to .psd (and one .png) character images:
I think we attempted to add some padding to the homepage sections before but could not figure it out; do you know how to add it? I will go ahead and increase the video size now, and tomorrow I'll talk to the other admins about adding the chat module.
If you need any files converted to a different file type or resized, I'd be able to. The file sizes are rather large at the moment.
I think we attempted to add some padding to the homepage sections before but could not figure it out; do you know how to add it?
For the tables (sections) on the left column, changing the width value from 100% to 99% will add horizontal spacing between them and the right column sections, and adding margin-bottom:10px; will take care of vertical spacing.
After you've made those changes, the sections on the right column will only need vertical spacing, so just insert margin-bottom:10px; on those tables.
Tell Kaibigan that I think the holiday background looks great!
Thanks for all of those high-quality images. I'll get to work on a new, year-round background now and let you know when it's ready to look at.
Here's a preview of the new background I made. Let me know if you want me to change anything.
This was made assuming you guys keep the current page transparency. You may notice that the sharpness is slightly less than the current background. This is due to two things:
The fact that the backyard image has so many different and bright colors
The transparent page means that all/most of the background image is visible, resulting in more compression needed to save the image below the filesize limit of 300 KB
If you plan to switch to a non-transparent page, I can use a solid color to "fill in" most of the center of the background image that will be covered by the page, which will result in an increase of the background's quality/sharpness due to not having to compress it as much.
