"Robin Hood the Clean" is an episode of The Backyardigans from the third season. It was recognized as the official final episode to use the Nick Jr. Productions logo from 2005. PlotOnce Upon a Time, there was Uniqua, Tyrone, and Tasha are first seen sitting miserably in a mud puddle in the backyard. They are all covered with dirt and grime. Each of the three explains to the viewer that they are the villagers of Filthingham, the dirtiest, stinkiest, and grossest village in the whole wide world. They love to bathe, but they're not allowed because of Austin, aka Mayor Stinkypants. Austin walks up to them and commands them to return to the mud. The trio begs for at least one bath, but Austin reminds them of the rule - "Everything is filthy in Filthingham," so all four characters sing, "Everything is Filthy in Filthingham." After the song, the backyard transforms into Filthingham, where the trio is forced to participate in "the Festival of Dirt." Stinkypants tells everyone to get to work, but while he is gone for a few minutes, Tyrone shows Tasha and Uniqua that he has the last bar of soap in Filthingham right in his hands, which makes the girls glad. Tasha mentions that the whole town used to smell good when a hero named Robin Hood the Clean lived there, but Uniqua says he's not allowed to return due to Mayor Stinkypants. After hearing a trumpet signaling the Mayor's return, Tyrone quickly hides the soap. But when Stinkypants walks up to the villagers, he smells something clean on Tyrone. He sniffs Tyrone's soap and locks it in the Dungeon, where all the other soap and cleaning items are locked away. They even see Robin Hood's bath mitt, whom Tyrone says that's who could clean up Filthingham. Stinkypants tells them to never speak of Robin Hood the Clean and get to work for the Festival of Dirt. The villagers cannot take any more of this as they sing "We Wish We Could Wash." After the song ends, Tyrone takes a stand and heads out to Purewood Forest to bring back Robin Hood the Clean. After sneaking past Stinkypants, he's glad to leave Filthingham for a while because of Purewood Forest's fresh air. Robin Hood, played by Pablo, spots Tyrone and jumps out to Tyrone to clean him, but is surprised that he wants to get clean. Tyrone asks Robin Hood to return the villagers' cleaning supplies, but Robin Hood refuses. Tyrone tells him that his favorite bath mitt (named "Mitty" by Robin Hood) is also locked in there, which shocks Robin Hood. Robin Hood wants to get started as soon as possible. They then sing "Robin Hood the Clean." Before they head back into Filthingham, Tyrone explains to Robin Hood that he must disguise himself as a villager and sneak in to return the villagers' cleaning supplies. Robin Hood is unsure if he can do it, but Tyrone reminds him of Mitty, and Robin Hood takes the cloth. As they head in, Tyrone distracts Stinkypants by asking him to rub more dirt on him for the festival so Robin Hood can use his claw to steal the key to the Dungeon. Promising to free the villages from the dirt, he runs into the castle. Meanwhile, the Festival of Dirt is starting. Tyrone whispers to the girls about Robin Hood, and they are thrilled. As the Mayor goes on about the festival, he explains that if the villagers lose to him, they'll be sent and dunked into the Stinky Booth, a pool filled with stinky mud. First is the Mud Ball Toss. The one to throw a mud ball closest to the middle spot wins. Uniqua throws from a few feet away and misses the yellow point by a few centimeters. Stinkypants runs closer to the target, but Uniqua sees this as cheating and says he can't throw closer to the target. Stinkypants answers that he can because there are two lines on the ground, the red one is for villagers, and the blue one is for mayors. The villagers are furious at him for playing dirty, which means cheating. But the Mayor doesn't listen and throws from about an inch away and gets the ball into the center of the target. Uniqua, because of unfair loss, is thrown into the Stinky Booth. In the castle, Robin Hood smells the cleaning items behind the wall. He knows there might be a hidden door behind all the mud on the walls, so he scrubs away the mud with a sponge stick to find it. Next is the Mud Pie Balancing Contest. The rules are that the first person to drop the mud pies on their head loses. Tasha has many pies stacked and can't keep her balance together, so she loses. Then, Stinkypants reveals that he glued his pies together because mayors are allowed to do that. Due to her loss, Tasha goes to the Stinky Booth to join Uniqua. Back inside the castle, Robin Hood finally finds the Dungeon door and starts getting everything out of it, including Mitty. Finally, it is time for the Long Mud Jump. The rule is whoever jumps farther over the mud pit than Stinkypants wins. If Tyrone wins, his friends go free. As Tyrone backs up to go fast enough to jump up high, Robin Hood has gotten out of the castle and starts cleaning the fountain, and fresh, clean water starts squirting out of it. At the game, Tyrone makes a long jump (but trips and lands on his face), but then Stinkypants says that he meant a short jump, and he jumps for a very short distance and explains that mayors are allowed to change the rules. Tyrone is then sent to the Stinky Booth, where all the losers will be dunked. Just as Stinkypants is about to pull the lever, Robin Hood jumps up to the Mayor and rips off his villager disguise. Stinkypants grabs mud balls and throws them at him, but Robin Hood deflects them with his sponge stick. Then Stinkypants throws mud pies at him, but Robin Hood defends himself with a sponge. He grabs a soap and runs after Stinkypants to clean him. While doing it, he summersaults in front of the Mayor, which causes Mitty to fall off his hand. Stinkypants grab it and order Robin Hood to surrender. But Robin Hood retrieves Mitty and holds Mitty out to him. He makes Mitty's voice as he says, "Hello. I'm Mitty. I 'love' you!" Stinkypants is terrified and tries to walk away backward from the mitt until he trips over the edging of the fountain and falls into the water, getting clean. Robin then frees the villagers from the Stinky Booth, and they jump into the fountain. Stinkypants is completely disgusted with his clean appearance, but Uniqua and Tyrone tell him that baths are fun. Now reunited with his rubber ducky, Tyrone lends it to Stinkypants, and he realizes it too and seems to forget how good being dirty is. He then renames the Festival of Dirt to the Festival of Soap as the five friends sing "The Festival of Soap" while they clean the whole town. Stinkypants's stomach growls, so he proclaims that it is snack time. Robin Hood invites everyone to his house for oatmeal raisin cookies as the village of Filthingham turns back into the backyard. The five friends sing the end song as they all run into Pablo's house for oatmeal raisin cookies. Uniqua, Tyrone, and Tasha open the door after entering and yell, "We're clean!" before closing the door, and they all live happily ever after. Roles
